Irvin inducted into National 4-H Hall of Fame

Tommy Irvin, Georgia's Commissioner of Agriculture, was inducted into the National 4-H Hall of Fame October 5th. Irvin is only the seventh Georgian to receive the national honor.

The Hall of Fame nominating committee noted Commissioner Irvin's active service on the Georgia 4-H Foundation Board of Trustees for over 20 years, as well as his service to 4-H and college advisory committees. The nominating committee also noted that Irvin is a 4-H donor who has endowed a scholarship for 4-H members and leveraged and authorized hundreds of thousands of dollars to benefit 4-H.

"I have been involved in and a strong supporter of 4-H for more than 50 years," said Irvin. "My wife, Bernice, and I have seen the many varied opportunities for development 4-H has afforded young people, including our daughter who was a national winner. We fund 4-H scholarships so that young people can build on the skills and knowledge they learned through the 4-H program."
