North Georgia Rapids Swim Team update

The North Georgia Rapids Swim Team sent a small contingent of swimmers down to Clarkesville, Georgia to compete in the 2007 Mountain Invitational Swim Meet. Only three swimmers made the journey, as other team members were participating in other sporting events such as football and cheerleading.

Courtney Marshall, Neffe DeLaCruz and Anna Knight, all eleven years old, competed in the girls' twelve and under age group, with all three having excellent races. Neffe, the youngest of the three, swam three personal best times earning ribbons in all of her events. Courtney also had three personal best times, with her highest finish being a third in the 50 yd butterfly. Anna had two personal best times and earned four ribbons, two of which were thirds.

The swim team is sponsored by the Blue Ridge Moutain Fitness Club and practices three days a week year round. The winter season is just starting and the team continues training hard for its next competition. For more information about the program, contact team coach Barry Gay (706)835-1662.
