2007 Bank of Blairsville Cup

Butternut Creek Golf Course in Blairsville, Georgia was the site of the third tournament of The Ridges Junior Golf Tour. The Bank of Blairsville hosted the tournament for its third year at Butternut Creek. Bank representatives Susan Zollinger, Keisha Dye, and Joey Swanson were on hand to welcome the junior golfers and host the tournament. Eighty four junior golfers took to the course, 16 more than participated last year. All the younger juniors were able to finish play, but the older players had to shorten their time on the course due to unfavorable weather conditions.

Evan Brakefield continued his dominance on the Butternut Creek golf course by improving from a second place in 2006 to first place in 2007 in the Boys 13-14 division. Evan has shot low score in his division for each of the first three tournaments this year. Eli Crumley showed his knowledge of the course by placing first again this year in his respective age division. The two winners of the girls 14 division from last year repeated again this year, Morgan Bentley and Morgan Smith.

Six other golfers placing last year placed again this year, they were: Camryn Carter, Kyle Rhinehardt, Colin Williams, Josh Cotrell, Will Shirah, and Oliver Allison. Again this week, each of the seven counties was represented in the winners. Clay County led the way with the most junior golfers placing with a yearly high of 13, followed by Union County with 11.
