Dyer's in the race

Tony Dyer has announced his candidacy for Sole Commissioner of Union County. He will run on the Democrat ticket in the 2008 Primary, and if successful in the general election in November of 2008.

Dyer, a Union County native and local businessman, says his goal is to communicate with the people of the county in an honest and understanding manner on the local issues that affect them.

"I want to provide more services for our people and ensure that our county government is governed more efficiently," he said.

Dyer, who will turn 61 later this month, holds a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and is a Vietnam Veteran. He is well known throughout the county both as a building contractor and as an owner of several small businesses, including a shuttle service and a ground maintenance and lawn care service.

He is married to Andrea

Rogers Dyer. They have four children: Matthew, Tony, Rachel and Seth. They also have two grandchildren.
