By KATHI OSBORNE

BRASSTOWN, NC -- Brasstown Concert Association will present La Musgaña, the Spanish folk ensemble, in concert on Sunday, October 14 at 2:30pm at John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown.

With music reflecting a fusion of styles started centuries ago, La Musgaña plays the syncopated music of Central Spain which bears influences by Moroccans, Celts, Europeans and Africans.

The concert in Brasstown will be the first stop on the group's American tour in support of their newly released CD, Temas Profanos.

"La Musgana's rhythm and style influences include peasant dances, romances, songs of supplication, religious offeratories, and carols from both the Mediterranean and Atlantic," said Karen Borchers, BCA President. "They use a variety of instruments including dulcimer, fiddle, hurdy gurdy, flutes, guitar and bass."

La Musgaña will appear in concert Sunday, October 14, at 2:30pm in the Keith House of John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown. No reservations are required, and seating is by general admission. Tickets cost $14 for adults and $7 for students. Half-season tickets are also available. For more information call 828-389-0033.
