Health Fair Appreciation

The health fair at the Blairsville Better Living Center on September 9, 2007 was a big success thanks to the participation of the community and all the sponsors that contributed. 187 participants had their blood tested. Special thanks goes to Union General Hospital and the lab technicians, Betty Crawford, Sharon Munoz, Delia Urboda, and Amy McCollum, for providing the blood work in a very professional and efficient manner.

Dr. Grant provided spinal checks; Ingles in Blairsville provided complimentary bottled water, Ingles in Hiawassee provided a discount on the food, Tom Starrett of Blairsville provided his local honey for tasting, the Bank of Blairsville and Blairsville United Community Bank provided "freebies" for the participants.

Wildwood Lifestyle Center performed computerized health age assessment, blood pressure testing, health counseling, exercise step test, fat percentage test, hydrotherapy demonstration, massage, and pulmonary test.

The Blairsville Better Living Center's goal is to serve the communities in Union, Towns and Clay Counties by providing health education and services. For 2007, the events are the second annual health fair, eight monthly health seminars, and the current Eight Weeks to Wellness training.

A special appreciation to all who made this possible.
