New York style pizza comes to the mountains
By DEBBIE WALKER Sentinel Writer

Sentinel photo/Debbie Walker Johanna, Bob and Renee work hard to being the taste of New York style pizza to you.
Once upon a time in New Jersey there lived two sisters, who grew up together, played together, and loved together.

They both went their separate ways in their careers and became what they thought was their hearts desire. But in reality what they both wanted was far from what they had intended their careers to be. In fact they think they are Divas, Pizza Divas that is. Now the definition of a Diva in the Webster's dictionary is: Goddess, feminine of divus, god, see Deity, a leading woman singer, especially in Grand Opera. I'm not saying these girls aren't Divas, but they sure are hard workers. I didn't hear them sing.

Come in and meet Johanna and Renee Satama, who are the proud owners of Pizza Divas. Pizza Divas is located in the Creekside Plaza in Hayesville. They bought this little piece of Pizza heaven in April 2007 from Sal Paci. Johanna was in the fashion design world, working for big name companies like Calvin Klein, Banana Republic and Tommy Hilfiger. She has traveled all over the world and was becoming quite a Globe Trekker.

Sentinel photo/Debbie Walker Sisters, sisters, there were never such devoted sisters. Renee and Johanna as children.
Renee, the eldest of the sisters became a Sous Chef. She has also worked all over the country for restaurants in Colorodo Spring, the Marriott Marquis on Times Square in NYC., and a Sous Chef here for Brasstown Valley Resort and the Sequioa Restaurant.

She has always known that in her "Hearts of Hearts" she was born to be a Chef. Both are in agreement that it is nice to own your business and be your own boss. They enjoy " Life after Work."

Together they make wonderful NYC style Pizza, to die for Garlic Knots, special salads, Calzones, and Rolls. They both actually lived in NYc for a time and they do know New York style pizza. Helping them in the kitchen is Bob, who hails from Rockland County in New York, who once worked for Sal. He is retired plumber. The girls kept him because they said, " Bob is Great!".

Inspirations in their lives are: the people of this beautiful place, the mountains, food, and their 2 small adorable Yorkies who share their home. More inspiration comes from food magazines and decorating ideas. Come in and see the Fall Festive decorations they have up. Both are great lovers of Halloween, so there will be a Halloween Special to be advertised. They'll be cooking up something I'm sure.

So now that the Fall chill is on, stop in and warm up with a great Pizza at Pizza Divas for lunch or dinner. Or just kicking back watching football or have been to a game, stop in and pick a Pizza to go. Pizza Divas is open Monday-Tuesdays 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
