Middle School football team just misses win

Patrick Gooch returned a kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown but it wasn't enough as the Middle School Panthers fall to Rabun County 8-6.
Rabun took the opening kickoff and drove the length of the field for a score. The twopoint conversion was successful and Rabun County held an 8-0 advantage midway through the first quarter.
On the ensuing kickoff, yards for the score. The extrapoint attempt was no good and the Panthers trailed 8-6. Rabun held the slim 8-6 advantage for most the entire game. Union had a chance late when Gooch intercepted a Rabun pass but the Panther drive stalled out just inside Rabun County territory. The Union County middle school squad played with a lot of heart despite being down to their third string quarterback for most of the second half.
