LETTERS Last week, Moveon.org ran an ad criticizing the patriotism of General Petraeus, the US Commander in Iraq, and everybody got their panties in a wad. But where was the outrage when Saxby Chambliss castigated the patriotism and meritorious military service of Max Cleland? Both acts were disrespectful of our troops and suggest an underlying immorality of those making such statements. James S Fitzgerald To the Editor: Congratulations to the 255 people who took part in the About Two Hours From Anywhere" 5K Run and Heart Walk! Runners and walkers alike were cheered on by enthusiastic friends and well wishers. Every participant, coach, volunteer, sponsor, vendor, and cheering family member made this year's event a tremendous success once again. Your ongoing support goes a long way in showing how much Murphy Medical Center means to you. The purpose of the event is to raise funds for the Murphy Medical Center Foundation. This money will be used to support the Emergency Department expansion project. This much needed expansion will include adding two large trauma specialty rooms, an additional multi-purpose exam room, and a larger triage room which will include radiology equipment. These additions, as well as a new ambulance entrance and other working spaces, will build on Murphy Medical Center's commitment to provide the best medical care possible to our community. We would like to thank all of our event sponsors who made it possible to plan and implement the race. Also thank you to N.C. State Highway Patrol, Cherokee Co. Rescue Squad, Peachtree Volunteer Fire Dept., Cherokee Co. Sheriff's Dept. and of course the Cherokee Co. EMS ambulance crew. We look forward to the next year's event in September 2008. With a heartfelt thank you to all, Mike Stevenson, President Murphy Medical Center LETTERS All letters should be received by Tuesday noon.
