Project vote smart to visit YHC

President Cathy Cox is pleased to announce that Young Harris College and the League of Women Voters of Towns County are co-sponsoring a visit by the Project Vote Smart motor coach to Young Harris College on October 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The bus will be parked in front of the Clegg Auditorium. All members of the public, in addition to the student body, are invited to visit.

After sixteen years of work, by more than 6000 people, the nation's first ever Voter's Self- Defense System is finally complete, and Project Vote Smart is traveling the nation, on a 45' motor coach to deliver the system to the American voters. This system provides information on a candidate's voting record, speeches, campaign finance information and interest group ratings. All information is totally without bias or partisan slant. The information is available free of charge to anyone.

The bus tour will truly be an interactive learning experience. Visitors to the bus will begin their experience by watching a short video, in the state of the art movie theatre located on the bus. The film will be about Project Vote Smart, and the services they provide. Following the video presentation, guests on the bus will be given a laptop computer, and be taught the different methods that they can use to defend themselves against the onslaught of misinformation that they will likely be bombarded with in 2008. Project Vote Smart is national research organization founded by national leaders such as Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford, John McCain and Geraldine Ferraro. It is funded entirely through foundation grants and the individual contributions of 45,000 members.
