Ken and Friends in concert
For years Kenneth Young has been a central music figure around north Georgia, or for that matter, the whole southeastern USA. He has taught music, written songs, performed with many well-known musicians, both in the recording studio and on stage, and worked in the retail end of the business. He recently signed with Doyle Lawson Publishing and has had a song, "The Other Side of Jordan," recorded by Paul Williams, one of the better known gospel bluegrass singers. Another of Ken's accomplishments is his election and induction into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.
Ken sings and plays guitar and harmonica. Elaine, Ken's wife, sings and plays guitar. As a part of their new program, she also plays some fiddle. David Atkins plays bass and occasionally sings. A surprise guest is scheduled for this concert.
The Union County Historical Society is pleased to present this fine group of Union County's own musicians at the Old Courthouse on the Square on Friday evening, September 28 at 7:00 p.m.
Ken and Cecil Lance had a lifelong friendship and had business associations for many years. Ken and Friends, along with The Union County Historical Society respectfully dedicate this program to Cecil, or Jr., as many people knew him.
There is no required admission charge to the summer concerts in The Old Courthouse on the Square. The musicians donate their time and talents. Voluntary donations to the restoration fund are always welcomed and appreciated.
