Citywide Yard Sale
Vendors sought for September 29 sale in Copperhill and McCaysville

The sidewalks of the Copper Basin will be overflowing with bargains, when the cities of Copperhill and McCaysville host "Copper Basin Bargain Day" on Saturday, September 29th from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

It marks the third year that the TriCities Business Association has sponsored the whole town yard sale and sidewalk sale on the last weekend in September. TCBA President Adam Davenport says Copper Basin Bargain Day has proven to be a huge hit with locals and visitors alike, regularly attracting more than three thousand bargain hunters to the streets of the two cities. "Many of our business owners tell us they have one of their busiest days of the year during the sale," said Davenport. "Our out-of-town visitors say they enjoy spending the day browsing through town searching for yard sales treasures and sampling our shops." Because of the popularity of the event, the merchants group has expanded the sale to a twice a year event, adding a second sale during the first week of May each year.

The business association is asking merchants in Copperhill and McCaysville to set up tables on the sidewalk in front of their stores offering special bargains. Residents of the two towns and neighboring Ducktown are being invited to join in the fun by cleaning out their attics, basements and closets and conducting their own private yard sales on September 29th. The TCBA will also assign yard sale locations at designated spots around the Copper Basin, where professional vendors and residents from outside the area can set up yard sale tables. In addition to locations in Copperhill and McCaysville, a selling area will also be available in Ducktown.

All sellers not conducting sales on their own property must register with the TCBA to receive a yard sale permit and be assigned a location. The registration fee is $10, with all proceeds used to offset the cost of advertising Copper Basin Bargain Day. Non-profit and civic groups will be assigned a sales location at no charge.

For more information on Copper Basin Bargain Day or to obtain a yard sale location, sellers are asked to call event coordinator Linnea Hansen at the McCaysville Public Market (706-492-5541). Vendor Applications can also be picked up in person at the Public Market.
