Classical Piano Concert at Young Harris College

Duo-pianists Nancy and Paul Teryl will present the fourth in their bi-annual series of duet piano concerts, Friday, October 12, 7:30 p.m. in the Glenn Auditorium of the Clegg Fine Arts Center on the campus of Young Harris College. The concert is open to everyone at no charge. The Teryls, long time residents of north Georgia, have contributed to and enhanced the classical music scene for many years. They regularly teach courses for the Institute for Continuing Learning at Young Harris College, sponsors of this concert. Nancy, with a summa cum laude performance degree in piano from the University of Buffalo, is a registered nurse and principal organist at All Saints Lutheran Church. Paul grew up in a family of professional classical musicians, earned degrees in philosophy and economics from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He also taught at the University of Buffalo in the departments of music and philosophy. The upcoming program will contain music of Handel, Mozart, Brahms, Schumann, Beethoven and others. It will also have a surprise set entitled "Radio Days". Included will be commentary by the performers. Piano duet music is rarely performed in concert and is a specialty of the Teryls. In addition to original works for four hands at one piano, most great works originally composed for symphony orchestra were transcribed for duet piano giving music lovers a chance to enjoy this music before the day of the phonograph. The Teryls have concertized widely throughout the Northeast, Florida and Georgia and once again look forward to sharing their music with those in our mountain communities.
