Bud Kelley

Mr. Bud Kelley, 69, native and lifelong resident of Blairsville, Ga., died Tuesday, September 11, 2007, at Union General Hospital in Blairsville.

Mr. Kelley was born Wednesday, October 13, 1937 in Union County, Georgia, to the late Mac Kelley and the late Myrna England Kelley. Bud was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and had worked with Blue Ridge Mountain Electric Membership Corporation. He was a member of The House of Prayer Interdenominational Church, and had been preceded in death by a brother, Jim Kelley, and his parents.

Survivors include his loving wife, Max Patton Kelley of Blairsville; son & daughter-in-law, Chris and Karen Kelley; son, Mark Kelley; daughter & son-in-law, Casey and Keith Potts, all of Blairsville; brother, Jack Kelley of Jefferson, Georgia; sister, Gwen Dillard of Blairsville; sister, Jo Ann Mason; sister, Judy Foster, both of Dacula, Georgia; sister, Melva Lynn Patton; brother, Bill Kelley, both of Blairsville; sister, Peggy Scott of Dacula; grandchildren: Seth Merritt, Rebecka Merritt, Hunter Kelley, Connor Potts, and Chloe Potts. Many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 14, 2007 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Helton officiating. Music was provided by The Kelley Trio, and Nelson Thomas and Phil Nichols. Interment followed in Kelley Family Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were the following gentlemen: Mike Patton, Mitch Patton, Jason Kelley, Shannon Kelley, Clint Hobbs, and Alan Patton. Members of Union County High School "Class of 1957" served as honorary pallbearerers.

Flowers were accepted; however, for those wanting to make memorial contributions, the family requests they be made to The Wilderness Scouts of America, Inc. P.O. Box 807, Blairsville, Georgia 30514.
