Fall festivals coming soon

Fall is in the air, making it a perfect time to enjoy the cooler temperatures at the upcoming festivals- one in Brass-town NC and the other in Hiawassee.

John C. Campbell Folk School will have their 34th annual Fall Festival on Saturday and Sunday, October 6-7, featuring 200 juried and non-juried craftspeople. Come see the many handcrafted items for sale, live music a n dance on two stages, great food, craft demonstrations and children's activities.

The fun starts at 10 a.m. both days, closing at 5 p.m. Admission: $5 adults and $3 children 12- 17, under 12 free with an adult. Call 1-800-FOLK-SCHOOL or www.folkschool.org/fallfestival for more information.

There will be 10 full days of exciting activities and events at the Fall Festival at Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds in Hiawassee from October 12- 21. Admission is $8- children under 10 are free- Parking is $2 (no pets please). The Fall Festival is sponsored by Towns County Lions Club and features country music shows at the newly air conditioned/heated Anderson Music Hall week days at 2 and 7 p.m. Weekends have special times and shows. The many crafts and exhibits are open weekdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Don't miss the gospel music shows in the Music Hall on Sundays from 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. And you certainly don't want to miss the pig races three times daily. Fastest, cutest little pigs you've ever seen.
