Advance Directive Info. Meeting- Sept. 28 The Georgia General Assembly has enacted a new law related to Advance Directives that is called "Georgia Advance Directive for Health Care" effective on July 1, 2007. The purpose of this new law is to provide a form that includes both what was called the Living Will, which instructed one's physician to withhold or withdraw certain life sustaining treatments that would only prolong or postpone the dying process and the Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care that appointed someone to make one's medical decision if one was unable to do so. It is important to note that any Advance Directives written prior to July 1, 2007, remain in effect and valid if valid prior to new law. Union County Nursing Home, 550 Nursing Home Circle, will host an educational meeting that is open to the pubic on Friday, September 28 at 3:00 p.m. in the Activity Room on the new Georgia Advance Directive for Health Care. If you would like to attend please contact Elizabeth Uhle, Social Services Director, to RSVP at 706-745- 4948, ext.105 before Wednesday, September 26. |
