Hiawassee Festival of Arts announces 2007 award winners Almost 4,000 people came to see the wonderful array of fine arts and fine crafts at the fourth annual Hiawassee Festival of Arts. Festival goers also enjoyed the live jazz performances, some great food and the new"Creative Kids- Fear No Art" interactive booth. "Many were impressed with the quality of the work and it was clear the artist's were impressed with the turnout" commented, Cheryl Barrett, Mountain Arts Association President. "Several artists commented this show really attracts the buyers." With a spectacular array of art including watercolor, oil, wood, metal, fiber, glass and jewelry, people certainly had a good selection of items at all price ranges. The Best in Show award winner, Aaron Hequembourg, said, "This show is always one of my best in the Southeast." Wendy Smith, Festival Chair added, "We are so pleased and particularly want to thank all the many volunteers without whom we simply couldn't do it." Wendy continued, "The Ridges Resort and Club donated all the artist hospitality to rave reviews and they also did the Artist's box lunches this year and we had nothing but good feedback." The judges were impressed with the high caliber of work displayed and were pleased to announce their selections for Festival winners:
