Enotah Garden Club is Grand Gardener

The Enotah Garden Club of Young Harris, Laurel District, was recently granted Grand Gardener status within The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. The club was organized in 1941, federated in 1943, and celebrated their 65th anniversary in 2006. Through the years the members have worked to maintain the goals of the original charter members. The goals are: Bring our community into a closer relationship of mutual helpfulness, protection of native trees and birds and to encourage community beautification.

The Club continues to be involved in numerous gardening projects for the city of Young Harris. A noted community program acknowledges residents and businesses of the area with a "Thank You for Keeping Young Harris Beautiful", and they maintain the flower barrels on Main St and in front of the city hall. A special thank you goes out to the members who kept the flowers blooming this summer.

Through the years members have joined the club to increase their knowledge of gardening in this mountain valley community. They have been rewarded with the friendship of garderners and the acknowledgement of appreciation by the community for their many projects.

The garden club will hold their first fall meeting on Thursday, September 20th at 1:45, at the young Harris City Hall which is located on Maple St. For those who may be interested in the club new members and guests are always welcome. Come share your interest and knowledge with us.
