Mary Lynn Pyburn

Mrs. Mary Lynn Pyburn, 75 of Hidden Acres Rd., Blairsville, Ga., died Monday, Aug. 27, 2007 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness.

Mrs. Pyburn was born Feb. 6, 1932 in Shreveport, La., the daughter of the late Sidney Matthews and the late Allie Youngblood Matthews. She attended Williams Woods College, Fulton, Mo., and Centenary College, Shreveport, La., where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. Mary Lynn loved life and she loved the outdoors. She was an active member of the Appalachian Bridge Club and the Red Hat Association. She had been an avid tennis player, was a certified scuba diver, loved camping, sailing and playing bridge and motorcycle riding with her husband. Mary Lynn was an award winning Realtor in Miami, Fla., and she co-founded Pyburn Realty, Inc., being active for 20 years in that business. Mrs. Pyburn was a member of the Coosa United Methodist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Pyburn is her loving husband of 54 years, Davis Pyburn of Blairsville; sons and daughters-in-law, Davis and Lynda Pyburn III of Cordova, Tenn., Bruce and Leah Pyburn of Longwood, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Laura (Miller) and Rick Edwards of Marietta, Ga.; sister, Elizabeth Ray of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Chad, Hayley and Briana Pyburn, Rachel and Logan Miller; brothersin law, nieces, nephews, sisters-inlaw and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Katie Strals officiating. Special music was presented by Nancy Teryl and James Stephens. Pallbearers were Jere, Richard, Jack, Dave, Bruce and Chad Pyburn. Interment followed in the Coosa United Methodist Church Cemetery. Those desiring may send contributions to the American Heart Association in Mrs. Pyburn's memory.
