Today's Thoughts

"He that walks with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed." Proverbs 13:20

"Your Companions Are Like Buttons On An Elevator. They Will Either Take You Up or Take You Down."

Michael Vick appears to have put himself in a bad situation because of the company he has kept. His friends of many years are now working on plea agreements that will probably take Michael down with them. Apparently, he didn't choose his friends too well.

A story is told of a scorpion, being a poor swimmer, asked a turtle to carry him on his back across a river. "Are you serious?" asked the turtle. "You'll sting me while I'm swimming and I'll drown."

The scorpion laughed and replied, "My dear friend, if I were to sting you, not only would you drown, but I would drown with you. Now, what would be the point in that? I won't sting you. It would mean my own death!"

The turtle thought about the logic of the scorpion's argument and then said, "You're right. Hop on!" The scorpion climbed aboard and halfway across the river, the scorpion gave the turtle a good sting.

As the turtle began to sink in the water with the scorpion on his back, he moaned in dismay, "After you promised me you wouldn't sting me! Why did you do that? Now, we're both doomed."

The drowning scorpion sadly replied, "I couldn't help myself. It's my nature to sting."

Before you decide to make a person your friend, study their character first. The stage on which their character plays is going to be your life!
