Avery represents District 7 for Honor Band

Lily Helen Avery was the only band student to represent her school in the District 7 Honor Band for the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 school year.

In February, Lily was selected to participate in the Georgia Lions' Club All State Band. She performed at the Lions' State Convention in Pine Mountain, Ga., on June 1, 2007. The band went on to march in the Lions' Club International parade and perform at the Lions' International Convention. Both events were in Chicago, Ill., on July 4, 2007.

Lily plays the bassoon and percussion. Her other band accomplishments include being voted by her peers as the Most Valuable Band Member during the 2005-2006 school year. Lily also received the Most Valuable Band Member Award and the Director's Award for the 2006-2007 year.

Lily will be a freshman this year at Sonoraville High School in Calhoun, Ga. Lily is the daughter of Ron and Crystal Avery of Calhoun, Ga. She is the granddaughter of W. H. and Sue Wright of Blairsville, Ga., and the greatgranddaughter of the late Hoke and Lillie Reece and the late Kenneth and Pearl Wright.
