Upward evaluations begin Friday

Jerry Helton, Upward Sports Program Director and Pastor of House of Prayer Interdenominational Church of Blairsville, would like to extend an invitation to all children to register for fall basketball or cheerleading.

Upward basketball and cheerleading will be held at House of Prayer Family Life Center on Saturdays beginning in September. Cheerleading is available to all children 8th grade and under, and basketball is available to children grades K - 8. Evaluations are held Friday, August 17 between 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, August 18 between 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Early registration deadline is August 18 for a reduced fee of $60. After August 18, the fee will be $70. Those interested should come by the church office in the Family Life Center to complete registration form or contact the church office.

"Through Upward sports, we have the distinct privilege of coaching and mentoring children of our community and providing them with solid, scripture-based virtues that can sustain them throughout their lifetime and eternity. We believe there is no higher calling than to love the children as Christ Himself loved them."

Children and parents alike are also invited to join us for KidStuf each Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. beginning Wednesday, August 29. KidStuf is a unique program designed to present the gospel to children while teaching and reinforcing a Biblical-based virtue each month using special effect lighting and sound, video, drama and high energy worship in a 'variety show' type setting. Children are encouraged to take what they learn and apply it in real-life situations.

"Through Upward sports, KidStuf, and other ministries such as Kiddie Church, Children's Church, Canal Lake Bible Camp, Vacation Bible School and Children's Choir, it is the desire of House of Prayer that each child know and experience the love and acceptance that comes from the One who knows and understands them most, Jesus Christ. We want each child to know who they are in Christ, and to be able to walk confidently and consistently in His Love and plan for their life," Helton continued.
