Mountain Marketplace Heritage Festival

Bring the family to Blairsville to enjoy things such as seeing a cow being milked, basket making, chair caning, wood carving, hatchet throwing, home remedies, and quilting. The grounds of the Mountain Life Museum, located one block south of the Old Courthouse on the square, will be covered with vendors with locally produced handcrafts, so you can shop for gifts or for yourself.

This open-air market will also include live animals, bluegrass music, and a raffle of various select items throughout the day. Members of pioneer families will be on hand to share their colorful memories of Union County's history.

The event will take place September 1 - 2, 10am - 5pm. Proceeds will benefit the preservation and enhancement of the historic Butt-Mock house, the 1861 Payne Cabin, and other structures where the event is held. Hosted by the Union County Historical Society and sponsored by United Community Bank, the Labor Day weekend "Mountain Marketplace Heritage Festival" celebrates the cultural heritage of the area.

Free and open to the public, this is a unique event promising wholesome family fun and teachable moments for all ages. If you would like additional information on the festival, please call the Union County Historical Society at 706- 745-5493.
