Young Harris home's remarkable Before and After
Initial concept for design was done by architect Judy Smith whom originally suggested D-log. Owner's research indicated that the D-log created too many problems in the long run, so a nationwide Internet search for other products was done with several good results; manufacturers sent samples. Elog was a new product but was by far superior to anything being used in this area and its look was magnificent . The design was then reworked with Design Concepts in Hiawassee, builder Mark Crawford and stone mason Leo Abernathy, to get the final design. The metal roof was replaced with Grand Canyon 50 year roofing shingles which has a 3-D appearance, a 3 board cedar facial and lounge and groove cedar offset. E-log supplied a 12 inch 8 foot half log pre stained (which has a radius of 3 1/2 inches, a R-10 insulation factor and could be installed like regular siding since it weighed only approximately 14 pounds) Cedar was used around all windows and corners (6 x 6), Cedar shakes were used to define the front windows. Leo Abernathy personally did the design for all the stone work, driveways were acid stained to give them rich color. The project was started on March 14th and completed by June 9th.
The E-Logs were provided by Pine River, Inc. of Charlevoix, Michigan. Low maintenance, the environment, and energy savings are important when choosing a half log siding look, making e-log siding The Smart Way to Build ... with logs.
