The Lady Panther Diamond Club would like to thank all who helped with the Second Annual Sporting Clay Tournament, especially those businesses and individuals that sponsored a team.
The event serves as a fundraiser for UCHS Lady Panther softball.
We had 19 teams in the tournament, awarding $500 to high team score, $250 to second place and $100 to the low team score. The winning team, with a score of 337 out of a possible 400, was the Arbor Team of Stephen Stover, John Davis, Chad Spiva and Dale Stanley.
The second place team, with a score of 323, was the Rich Grading Team of Chad Rich, Whitey Groves, Shannon Kelley and Derrick Cunningham.
The low team score of 117 was awarded to the "characters" of Ed Rohrbaugh, Donnie Kelley, Mark Donahue and Steve Bennett. Chad Rich of Rich Grading & Backhoe, and the team members of the low team score elected to award their prize money "back" to the UCHS Softball team for this season. We thank them very much for doing this.
The businesses and individuals with a sponsored team this year included: Odom Outdoor Products; Blue Ridge Mountain EMC; United Community Banks; Appalachian Community Bank; Rich Grading & Backhoe; Ed Rohrbaugh, Donnie Kelley, Mark Donahue, Steve Bennett, Mitch Patton Grading; The Arbor; Bank of Blairsville; Georgia Mountain Grinding; Pro-Vision Tours; Kenneth Arrowood; Gooch Trucking; Tony Crosby Kitchens; The Crossing; Combs & Son Construction; Flies & Fletching; Blairsville Paving, and Nelson Tractor.
The Lady Panther Diamond Club and UCHS softball would like to thank Noontootla Creek Farms for hosting the event and thanks to Catfish Corner for the fine food they provided.
We would also like to encourage you to come out and watch the UCHS softball team this year. The team is coming off the most successful season ever, finishing the season ranked fifth in the state in class AA.
Coach Stewart, Coach Cagle, and the team have
high expectations for the
2007 season. The first
submitted
home game is Tuesday,
August 21 against White
County. The JV will start at 4:30 p.m. with varsity following at 6:00 p.m. The team would appreciate your support.
