Ole' Fashion Games a great success
The Union County Lions Club's Second Annual Independence Day celebration on the 4th of July was another huge success with over 300 people in attendance. The games played included, tug-a-war, sack races, watermelon eating contest, frisbee throwing, and hole in one golf, just to name a few. Lion Mildred Thompson also did face painting on many adorable little faces.
An additional item at the games this year were free eye screenings. Lion Louise Little performed over 30 screenings which helps people determine if they need to follow up with an optometrist for an eye exam.
The Lions Club would like to thank Commissioner Lamar Paris, the Meeks Park Recreational Department, Boy Scout Troop 101, Union Sentinel, Appalachian Community Bank, Cadence Bank, Shirley Evans, the Fire Department, English Country Gardens, and for their contributions.
