6th Annual Mountain Marketplace Heritage Festival in Blairsville Mountain arts & crafts, music, food, and other traditions of the north Georgia mountains are in store for Saturday - Sunday of Labor Day weekend (September 1 & 2) in downtown Blairsville, Ga. Hosted by the Union County Historical Society and sponsored by United Community Bank, the Labor Day weekend "Mountain Marketplace Heritage Festival" celebrates the cultural heritage of the north Georgia mountains. This open-air market will feature locally produced handcrafts, traditional foods, and garden products along with music, craft demonstrations, "old ways," and live animals. Members of pioneer families will be on hand to share their colorful memories of Union County's history. The event will take place September 1 - 2, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 pm at the Mountain Life Museum, one block south of the Old Courthouse on Hwy. 129 in downtown Blairsville. Proceeds will benefit the preservation and enhancement of the historic property where the event is held. Many of the Marketplace activities will be centered around the beautifully restored 1861 Payne family log cabin also on the site. Free and open to the public, the Mountain Marketplace Heritage Festival is a unique event promising wholesome family fun and teachable moments for all ages.
