One Dozen Who Care offers free classes

The mission of One Dozen Who Care, Inc. (ODWC), a 501 (c) (3) non-profit Community Development Corporation in Andrews, N.C., is to strengthen local leadership and create community bonds through common cultural interactions.

Self-Awareness/Self- Defense

Saturday, August 4 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Judith Alvarado, executive director of Reach of Clay County, will be conducting the Self- Awareness/Self-Defense class on Saturday, August 4 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This form of self-defense helps empower women and enable them to make informed choices about their personal safety. Space is limited and registration is required. Participants are instructed to wear loose-fitting clothing, sneakers and no jewelry.

Profit from Ebay

Saturday, September 8 & 15 from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 p.m.

There are many people in the local community that want to sell on ebay but are apprehensive because they don't know how to start, or what to expect. The twopart Profit from Ebay class, taught by Tony Henry of Andrews, N.C. is designed to help participants shop with confidence and sell with strategy. The Profit from Ebay class will be held September 8 and 15 from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 p.m. at ODWC, Inc., Suite 6. Seats are limited and registration is required.

Microsoft Word

The second installment of Introduction to Microsoft Word classes will begin September 10 and will run Monday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This is not a Basic Computer class, so participants should be familiar with how to use a mouse, and have some basic typing experience. Seats are limited and registration is required.

Microsoft Powerpoint

Whether for business or personal use, Microsoft Powerpoint is a useful tool for creating multimedia presentations. This course will start with basic text slideshows and then move into more sophisticated, slideshows with graphics and animation. This is not a Basic Computer class, so participants should be familiar with how to use a mouse, and have some basic typing experience. Seats are limited and registration is required.
