'Neat' burglars in Towns
By JOAN CROTHERS Towns Sentinel Editor

A series of burglaries has victimized residents in Towns County, as thieves steal valuables but barely disturb the homes they enter.

There has been a total of 14 home burglaries throughout Towns during the month of July. Two of the burglary victims did not report the incident for several days because they did not even realize that their private space had been violated.

Money, knives and jewelry, including heirloom pieces, and a child's piggy bank with approximately $200 in it, were some of the items taken. Nothing else in the homes was disturbed. The burglars entered and exited with no obvious signs of forced entry.

Investigator Robert Kerns with the Towns County Sheriff's Department is handling the ongoing investigation. He has not released any further information, but advises area residents to be alert. If anyone notices strange vehicles parked in a neighborhood or if anyone has information on these burglaries, contact Investigator Kerns at 706-896-4444.
