Do you need a ride to and from your treatment sessions? A lack of transportation should not be the reason why cancer patients do not receive the life-saving cancer treatment they need. The American Cancer Society offers their Road to Recovery program to help transport cancer patients to and from their treatment. The Society has a toll-free number that you may call, and an operator will put you in touch with local volunteers that give cancer patients without personal transportation rides to and from their cancer treatment sessions. A place to share your thoughts and feelings and grow together with others who have experienced the loss of a loved one. GWRRA meets Chapter J of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) meets the third Saturday of each month at Daniel's Steak House in Hiawassee. Lunch is at 11 a.m. and the meeting is at noon. Misty Mountain Quilt Guild Misty Mountain Quilt Guild of Georgia - North Carolina will have their bi-annual quilt show October 12 & 13, 2007 at North Georgia Technical School in Blairsville, Ga. In addition to the quilt show, you will have an opportunity to shop at our boutique full of handmade items or purchase quilting supplies from vendors. There will also be a silent auction of fabulous mini-quilts. The drawing for our beautiful king size quilt, "Stars Over Georgia", will be held on the last day of the show. Homecoming at Sharp Memorial UMC Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church in Young Harris, GA, will celebrate Homecoming Sunday on July 29, 2007 at both their 8:30 AM and 10:55 AM worship services. The Homecoming Speaker will be the Rev. Dr. James Ellison. After graduating from Young Harris College in 1988, Ellison earned a degree in religion from LaGrance College, a Master of Divinity degree from Candler School of Theology and Emory University, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Asbury Seminary. Dr. Ellison is the founding pastor of Providence UMC in Fayetteville, GA, a church which began in 1995 with eight families, and now has an average worship attendance of over 700! In June, 2007, he moved to Atlanta First UMC to begin serving in ministry there. He also chairs the Board of Church Development for the North Georgia Annual Conference.
