Glow in the dark Golf brightens Christmas

The annual Glow in the Dark Golf Tournament was once again a success, as a full slate of teams helped raise money for the Blairsville Police Department "Shop with a Cop" program. The event brightens Christmas for less fortunate children in the area.

"It's a lot of work but it all pays off in December. It's all for the kids," Cindy Neely of the Blairsville P.D. said. "It's just grown into such a tremendous event and we are very appreciative that everyone wants to contribute to this fundraiser."

Championship Flight: First Place was the team of Clinton Patterson, Mickey Jones, Tim Swartz, and Toby Swartz. Second Place was the team of Greg Young, David Joseph, James Johnson, and Jeff Miller. Third Place was the team of Jason Neely, Judy Spiva, Mike Plott, and Mike Thomason.

1st Flight: First Place was the team of John Davis, Joey Swanson, Rich York, and J.D. Gurt. Second Place was the team of Joe Satterfield, Justin Satterfield, Brett Davenport, and Charlie Linderman. Third Place was the team of Drew Phillips, Nick Prince, Cody White, and Dennis Walker.

2nd Flight: First Place was the team of Bo Wright, Scott Nanney, Jimmy Nichols, and Matt Overstreet. Second Place was the team of Tom Carey, Matt Morgan, Ben Carey, and Mark Veicharen. Third Place was the team of Tommy Jordan, Gregg Buchannan, Jack Conner, and John Redgrave.

Organizers thanked United Community Bank, Appalachian Community Bank, Cadence Bank, Bank of Blairsville, Young Harris College, Flowers Bakery, Mike Kinnett, and Smokehouse for their contributions.
