Relay For Life volunteers thank our community The Relay For Life donation cans that were placed all around the county this year were taken care of by two dedicated ladies, Barbara Richardson (standing) and Paula Pendleton (seated). They got an extra helping hand from Karissa Woodell in counting the donations. They were excited to find a handwritten note in the can from our local McDonald's that said, "I helped, Amanda M." They would love to know more about Amanda M. So if you know about that note please send a letter to Mrs. Pendleton, c/o Union County American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 2984, Blairsville, GA 30514. "Our community is so generous. Even a couple of quarters and other change can make a difference in the fight against cancer," stated Mrs. Pendleton. Special visitors to our 2007 Relay For Life were (left to right) Nancy Johnson, volunteer facilitator for Bosom Buddies Support Group; Gladys Long, Relay For Life Georgia Ambassador Celebration on the Hill; Susan Berry and husband, Dan Berry, from Fannin County. Gladys is a statewide American Cancer Society (ACS) volunteer doing outreach to the Latino communities in northeast Georgia and the Atlanta area. "We are pleased that these volunteers took time to be with our Union County event. They represent a dedicated group of workers who reach out into our communities with the mission and message of the American Cancer Society," stated Allyson McGraw. "Mrs. Berry was instrumental in helping our local ACS group receive a grant from the national ACS office to carry out several patient services activities, including acquiring literature and other resources for patients and their families to use," added Mrs. McGraw. |
