Georgia Mountain Fair Parade 2007

Do not miss the Georgia Mountain Fair's popular parade, held Saturday, July 21 at 11:00 a.m. Parade-watchers can view colorful floats, beautiful Percheron horses, vintage automobiles, talented marching bands and color guards as they pass by along the parade route. Special guest and radio D.J., Mr. Rhubarb Jones, will serve as the Grand Marshal for the 2007 Georgia Mountain Fair Parade.

The parade will begin at the Bank of Hiawassee in downtown Hiawassee and will conclude at Anderson Music Hall in the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds. Following the parade, visitors are invited to experience all the excitement that the Georgia Mountain Fair has in store.

Pageants

Always a Fair favorite, the Georgia Mountain Fair will host its annual Miss Georgia Mountain Fair Pageant on Monday, July 23 at 8:00 p.m. in air-conditioned Anderson Music Hall.

Local participants from throughout the region will complete in a variety of categories including a personal interview with judges; onepiece swimsuit competition; evening gown competition; stage question and overall presentation. Contestants will also have the option of participating in a talent portion of the competition. The winners of the pageant will receive cash awards!

Junior pageants will also take place earlier that day in Anderson Music Hall. At 2:00 p.m. contestants, ages 3 to 17, will compete in ageappropriate dress by age division. Prizes are also awarded to junior pageant winners.

Events

The Georgia Mountain Fair, held July 18 - 29, is a landmark event for the mountain community of Hiawassee. From carnival rides, educational demonstrations, pony rides and an arts & crafts show to entertaining musical performances, agricultural and antique shows and the everpopular Miss Georgia Mountain Fair Pageant, there is truly something for everyone. Most musical performances will be held in the newly air-conditioned Anderson Music Hall. The Georgia Mountain Fair will be held from July 18 - 29 at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds, on Hwy. 76 in the mountain community of Hiawassee on Lake Chatuge.
