Each year, three local Rotary Clubs sponsor an internationals student to attend Young Harris College through the Georgia Rotary Student Program (GRSP). Recently the 2004 Rotary student, Caroline Olsen of Stockholm, Sweden returned for a visit to YHC and with her host family, Tsali and Jacque Bentley. Caroline toured the Young Harris campus and spent several days in the Blairsville area. Caroline noted, "It was so nice to see everyone again from my teachers to my host family. It felt like I had gone back in time, nothing had changed at all". Caroline was on break from law school in Sweden.
She has just finished her second year of Law School at Uppsala University, just outside Stockholm. With three more years of law school left, she will be specializing in the area of international and commercial rights. She admits that law school is demanding and very challenging, but credits her time here at Young Harris College with providing a solid foundation of good study habits.
The Georgia Rotary Student Program brings about 75 international students to Georgia to study for one year in colleges across the state. Tuition is funded by the colleges through scholarships and living expenses are picked up by the local Rotary club. The Young Harris College GRSP student is funded by the three local clubs of Union County, Lake Chatuge, and Rabun County.
