J.D. Daniel

Mr. J.D. Daniel, age 80, of Blairsville, Ga., passed away Saturday, June 30, 2007 at his home.

Mr. Daniel was born Saturday, February 26, 1927 in Chula, Ga., to the late Zora Daniel and the late Ruth Dowdy Daniel. He had been a resident of Union County since 1980, moving here from Decatur, Ga. Mr. Daniel was a WWII Navy Veteran, having served with the Seabees and was a member of The American Legion. Mr. Daniel was also a private pilot. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Daniel, as well as his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Zora Daniel.

Survivors include his daughter, Charlene Shearer of Dacula, Ga.; sister, Lila Canglin of Stone Mountain, Ga.; brothers, Jack Daniel and Jerry Daniel, both of Covington, Ga.; grandson, Chris Norris; great granddaughter, Alexandria Norris; and great

grandson, Taylor Gray

Norris; many nieces,

nephews and other relatives

also survive.

Funeral services

were held Thursday,

July 5, 2007 from the

Chapel of the Cochran

Funeral Home with the

Rev. Jerry Helton officiating.

Interment followed in

Union Memory Gardens with graveside military honors provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Pallbearers were Chris Norris, Stephen Pye, Steve Cole, Matt Cole, Stewart Shearer and Jim Melvin.
