Dave Crockett Cantrell
Mr. Cantrell was born Saturday, August 28, 1920 in Coker Creek, Tenn., to the late Harvey Cantrell and the late Viney Denny Cantrell. He has been a resident of Union County since he moved to Blairsville with his family in 1932. Dave was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and 3 sisters. Survivors include his wife, Mary "Dodie" Cantrell of Blairsville; daughter and son-inlaw, Ruth and Jim Henson of Murphy, N.C.; son, Jack Cantrell; daughter and son-in-law, Lucille and Rex Taylor; son and daughterin law, Bobby and Brenda Cantrell; daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Bill Murrin; brother, Prior Cantrell- all of Blairsville; brother, Lank Cantrell of Ballground, Ga.; 16 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren. Many other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Jones, Rev. Leon McDonald and Rev. Chip Gribble officiating. Music was provided by Roy and Jonathan Swaney, Alice McDonald, Sandy Gribble, Heidi Sosebee and Joe and Lloyd Swaney. Interment followed in Pleasant Grove Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers were Travis Cantrell, Larry Cantrell, Jody Cantrell, Roy Swaney, David Swaney and Jonathan Swaney. Honorary pallbearers were Eddie Thompson and Paul Swaney. Arrangements entrusted to the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville.
