National Golden Olympics
Mr. Clement B. McIntosh, 76, and better known as "Mac", competed in racquetball (75-79 age bracket) in the National Golden Olympic Championships in Louisville, Ky. The games were played from June 22 through July 7, 2007.
Twenty-two players throughout the country competed in his age bracket. Prior to the medal playoffs, a round robin was played and "Mac" played four opponents and without losing a game. The top eight players were seeded for the medal round and "Mac" was seeded #2. "Mac" lost the final match with Charles Kaiser from Ohio.
The games provide an opportunity to participate in a social, competitive, recreational, and athletic event. The games create an awareness of the abilities and capabilities of older adults, help to maintain and improve health and wellness and promote an interest in lifetime sports, recreation and physical activity.
It was reported over 10,000 athletes competed in these Olympic events, competing in nineteen different sports.
