Blue Ridge Grass in concert This week the Brasstown Community Civic Center will feature a tried and true, veteran local Bluegrass group. Saturday, July 14, 2007, Blue Ridge Grass will be appearing in concert at 7:00 p.m. Blue Ridge Grass is an award-winning band whose members are Ray Ritchie (guitar), Greg Brooks (fiddle), John Watson (mandolin), Jamie Mason (banjo), and Roger Watson (bass). While the background of each band member is different, they all share a love of bluegrass music and tight vocal harmony. Everybody sings. A new CD, "Thunder Road," is the fourth for the group overall, but only the second with the current band members. This band consistently delivers quality because of their love of, and respect for, the music itself. Traditional music concerts are held at the Brasstown Community Civic Center on the second and fourth Saturdays of warm weather months. Local and regional performers have grown fond of the center for its enthusiastic audiences and recently added air-conditioned comfort. Admission is $4 for adults with children 12 and under free. Hot dogs, soft drinks, and desserts are available at the concession stand. Concert time is 7 p.m. with the box office opening around 6:30 p.m. The center is located on Settawig Road in beautiful Brasstown, N.C. |
