Three All-Star teams win District Union County's Junior (age 13-14) Recreation All-Stars won the District 7 Championship Friday, and will now advance to the State playoffs. Game 1: Union 9 - Banks 6 Scott Keen led off the game with a base on balls, stole second and Coleman Sullivan drove him in with a single, leaving the score at the end of inning one, Union 1 - Banks 0. Union didn't score until again until the third inning when Dalton Everett came to the plate with two outs and hit a single and Brady McCarter followed it with a triple, Union 2 - Banks 0 by the end of the third inning. In the fourth inning Grant Nix reached based by an error and later scored on a Sacrifice by Dustin Owenby ending the fourth inning Union 3 - Banks 0. In the fifth inning Union sent 12 batters to the plate, scoring 6 runs. Coleman Sullivan got it started with a single, Dalton Everett hit a triple scoring Sullivan, and Bases were loaded with consecutive walks by McCarter and Owenby. Coyne reached on an error scoring Everett & McCarter, following consecutive walks by Thomas and Keen followed by a single by Sullivan scoring Coyne and Thomas. The game ended in the fifth Union 9 - Banks 6. Gm 2: Union 10 - Commerce 0 Scott Keen reached base in the first with an error and later scored when Everett singled, Everett Scored when McCarter doubled, McCarter scored when Andrew Walker hit a Sacrifice ending the first Union 3 - Commerce 0. In the second Patrick Martin led off with an Infield Hit and later scored on a Sacrifice by Sullivan, leaving the score at the end of the second Union 4 - Commerce 0. In the third McCarter lead off by getting hit by pitch, stole second and later scored on a double by Walker, Walker scored on a double by Nix, Nix scored on a triple by Martin, Martin scored on a sacrifice by Phillip Stubblefield. Nathanial Otto doubled and was left at third base and the score at the end of the third Union 8 - Commerce 0. Fourth inning started when Everett singled and later scored on the McCarter home run. The game was called in the fifth Union 10 - Commerce 0. A very strong pitching performance was giving by Trey Thomas, giving up only one hit, no walks, 4 K's, faced only one batter over the minimum through 5 innings. Game 3: Union 13 - Banks 1 Banks defeated Commerce which setup a showdown on Friday with Union. Keen led off the game with a single and was later caught stealing second, Everett reached on an error and later scored on the McCarter home run, ending the first inning Union 2 - Banks 1. Coyne lead off the second with a walk and later scored on a Thomas double, Thomas scored with a single by Grant Nix, Nix scored when Keen singled, Keen scored on a passed ball. Everett singled and later scored on a single by McCarter. Ending the second Union 7 - Banks 1. The fourth inning was led off with an infield hit by Keen. Sullivan reached on an error, Everett sacrificed scoring Keen, McCarter reached by getting hit by pitch and later scored when Walker hit a sacrifice and Otto was left on base after a single. The score at the end of the fourth was Union 11 - Banks 1. Union added two more in the fifth, ending the game Union 13 - Banks 1. Dalton Everett pitched a strong game only giving up one run through 5 innings, 2 hits, 5 K's.
Banks almost scored again when their strongest hitter hit a line drive over the head of the left outfielder-Walker, when Walker raced to fence to pick up the ball and fire a strike to the third basemen Thomas and Thomas applied the tag just beating the Banks player for the third out in the fourth.
