Rotary in Motion: Hands on Georgia

Kim Goff, guest speaker at a recent Union County Rotart Club meeting.
Kim Goff recently spoke to the Union County Rotary Club about Hands on Georgia and Hands on Atlanta.

Hands on Atlanta started 17 years ago by some college friends who wanted to give back to the community.

Michelle Nunn (Sen. Sam Nunn's daughter) was hired as the first part time director of Hands on Atlanta. They went out to form partnerships with other non profit organizations around the area.

Today Hands on Atlanta has 50 people on staff and about 120 members throughout the Atlanta school system. They have many service opportunities all year long with Hands on Atlanta day being the first Saturday in October. Last year over 15,000 people participated in the event.

Two and a half year ago Hands on Georgia kicked off and they now have 19 affiliates across the state.

Hands On Georgia is a statewide network that supports innovative volunteer approaches to meeting Georgia's critical needs through service and civic engagement.
