John H. Shaffer Sr.

Mr. John H. Shaffer Sr., 62, of Blairsville, Ga., went to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 23, 2007.

Mr. Shaffer was born Sunday, January 28, 1945 in Alleghany County, Md., to the late Harold T. Shaffer and the late Bonita Metz Shaffer. He was a member of Blairsville Church of God. He had an anointed musical gift and was a pianist for every church that he attended since he was 14 years old. He was office manager for the Radiology Department in Doctors Hospital in Lake Worth, Fla., prior to becoming disabled with multiple illnesses. He had lived most of his adult life in West Palm Beach, Fla., during which he was a member of Trinity Assembly of God Church in Lake Worth, Fla., before moving to the mountains of Blairsville which he loved.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Shaffer of Blairsville, Ga.; sons and daughter-in-law, John and Judy Shaffer Jr. of Cumberland, Md., Robert and Kim Shaffer of Cumberland, Md.;

daughter, Sarah Beth Shaffer of Blairsville; brother, William F. Metz of College Park, Md., brother, Rev. Harold T. Shaffer of Ridgeley, W. Va.; sister, Charlotte J. Santmyire of LaVale, Md.; sister, Diane Shaffer of Blairsville; brother, Gregory J. Shaffer of Gerardstown, W. Va.; seven grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, special friends, Richard and Mary Jane Paollilo of Blairsville.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Blairsville Church of God with Pastor John Davis and Pastor Ronald Broadhead officiating. Music was provided by Pastor John Davis. Interment was in Union Memory Gardens. Serving as pallbearers were: Diane Shaffer, Keith Walker, Harold Shaffer Jr., William Metz, Greg Shaffer and Larry Stover.
