Mrs. Irene Hughes Kelley

Mrs. Irene H. Kelley, 93, native of Blairsville, Ga., died Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.

Mrs. Kelley was born Sunday, December 28, 1913 in Union County, Ga., to the late Frank Hughes and the late Ada Ensley Hughes. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Union County and was preceded in death by husband, Robert "Bob" Kelley; grandfather, Rev. Thomas Coke Hughes; five daughters, one son and one brother.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Maxine and Jack Drake of Blairsville, Martha and James Melton of Hiawassee, Ga., Joyce and Ron Byers of Blairsville; sons and daughters-inlaw, James and Mary Ann Kelley of Acworth, Ga., Jack and Betty Kelley of Blairsville, Bill and

Deborah Kelley of Blairsville; 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren also survive, along with many friends and other relatives.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 21, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Passmore and Rev. Charles Black officiating. Music was provided by Danita Kennedy. Interment followed in Blairsville City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Phil Kelley, Justin Byers, Jim Melton, Brock Kelley, Chase Kelley and Robby Kelley.
