What a delight to have 18- year-old Juliann Lytle as a very special guest at a recent Lions meeting. Introducing by First Vice President Lion Lisa Little, Juliann is special because she has been deaf since birth and in her 18 years has never allowed this to keep her from any goal that she set her mind to do.
This, of course, was due to her parents unconditional encouragment and support as well as other family members and friends. "Other" includes her grandparents, Lion Robert Lester and wife Dell, and her school teachers in Blue Ridge. Lion Robert is a member of Union County Lions Club.
Juliann lives with her mother, Jan Lytle, in Blue Ridge, Ga., and her father is "Monty" Lytle. Juliann attended public schools in Blue Ridge and is enrolled in college and something else very special about Juliann is that Union County Lions Club has submitted her name and biography as a candidate to receive the Georgia State Lions Deaf Award at the annual Georgia State Lions Convention to be held at Callaway Gardens this year.
Time and space will not permit to share all that Juliann has accomplished in her short life thus far, however, Union County Lions are proud to submit her name to this prestigious award. Names are submitted from all six districts of the state of Georgia. More about the outcome at a later date and news article. Lions motto: We Serve.
