Jacky Jones GM Superstore of Murphy, N.C. has made a generous gift to the Community Council of the Georgia Mountain Research and Education Center. The announcement was made by Jon Fullerton, Co-owner and General Manager of the dealership. "Jacky Jones and I are pleased to continue our support of the work of the Community Council and its programs and activities. The Council's efforts to provide educational enrichment experiences for students and adults in our service area and its projects to help preserve our mountain heritage are worthy of our support," said Fullerton.
Established in 1995, the Jacky Jones dealership in Murphy opened with the Pontiac, Buick and GMC lines. It added Chevrolet in 1997. The dealership has received the prestigious " GM Mark of Excellence" award five times. A full service dealership, it services customers in the tri-state area.
John Mays of the Community Council said, "Jon and Jacky have been partner in service with us since the founding of the Council three years ago. We are grateful for their generous support and their community involvement. Through their support they are helping to improve the quality of life in the region."
Since the Council's initial program three years ago, it has provided programs and activities for over 9,600 students and adults from the region through its Education and Outreach Committees. In addition, its Preservation Committee has five projects underway including an exciting Plant Rescue Project to save endangered species native to the mountain region. During the last academic year the Council involved over 200 volunteers in its work.
