Call for Miss Georgia Mountain Fair Pageant Contestants

The Georgia Mountain Fair is looking for contestants to participate in this year's Miss Georgia Mountain Fair Pageant, held Monday July 23 in Anderson Music Hall. Applicants must be between the ages of 17 and 24 and a resident or full-time high school/college student in Towns, Union, Rabun, White, Habersham, Lumpkin, Fannin or Stephens Counties in Georgia or Clay orCherokee Counties in North Carolina.

The pageant will be judged in five categories including a personal interview with judges (30 percent); onepiece swimsuit (10 percent); evening gown (20 percent); stage question (20 percent) and overall presentation (20 percent). Contestants will also have the option of participating in the talent portion of the competition. After all tally sheets are turned in by the judges, the talent portion of the Pageant will begin. A special cash award and plaque will be given to the talent winner. Judges will not have prior knowledge as to which contestants will perform talent, and judging will only be based on talent and showmanship.

The Georgia Mountain Fair, now in its 57th year, is a landmark event for the mountain community of Hiawassee and takes place July 18 - 29. From carnival rides, educational demonstrations, pony rides and a juried arts & crafts show near the Pioneer Villageto entertaining musical performances, agricultural and antique shows and the ever-popular Miss Georgia Mountain Fair Pageant, there is truly something for everyone.
