Rotary in Motion: Life of a Georgia Bulldog Football Player

Guest speaker Andrew Williams
Andrew Williams was the guest speaker at a recent meeting of the Rotary Club of Union County. Andrew was introduced by his father Andy Williams of United Community Bank who is a member of the Rotary Club of Union County. Andrew is the oldest son and is a 2003 graduate of Union County High School, and is currently attending theUniversity of Georgia. Andrew is a Safety/Special Teams player for the Georgia Bulldogs and wears the number 47. Andrew's major is Agricultural Business and he plans to graduate in December of 2007.

Andrew spoke to the club members about the life and schedule of a college football player at the University of Georgia.

Andrews's hectic schedule included 6:00am workouts for 45 minutes and then study hall at 7:00am for 45 minutes, and then most of the players had classes that started at 8:00am and continue till about 12:00. Practice meetings started at 2:00pm for special teams and lasted until 4:00pm and then regular practice starts at 4:00pm and continues until 7:00pm. This schedule continues Monday through Thursday all season long.

Andrew spoke about some of his favorite games that he has been involved in and some of the pre game rituals that the teams and coaches go through.

The Rotary Club of Union County has special guest speakers every week with a wide variety of interesting topics covering local, state, national, and international subjects.

The Rotary Club of Union County meets every Thursday at Cobb's Mill Restaurant in Blairsville.
