Net neutrality? What is that and why should I care? What does it mean to me? Here is what it means to all of us. Net neutrality is a rather strange phrase meaning being free to get on any website or use any internet function whenever one chooses. Some telephone and cable companies would like to eliminate that freedom. They are lobbying congress for the right to create a two level service: a high speed, efficient level for their own services and also for those who pay large fees and a slow, inefficient level for average users. If companies are allowed to regulate access, the content available to users will likely be limited and it will mean higher prices for consumer goods and services. A bipartisan bill proposed in the Senate (S.215: The Internet Freedom Preservation Act) would guarantee freedom on the internet without giving the government control over it. To support this bill, please contact Senators Chambliss and Isakson by June 15 and request that they protect the open and free nature of the internet. This is important for all of us!
