Grab your kilts
Scots are coming to north Georgia mountains

The 4th annual Blairsville Scottish Festival & Highland Games are June 9th and 10th at beautiful Meeks Park in Union County, GA. A Kilted Golf Classic (kilts optional) is Friday, June 8th at Butternut Creek Golf Course. Bagpipe music will be heard again as people gather to celebrate their Scottish heritage through athletic competition, exhibits and demonstrations such as the Highland Cattle, Sheepdogs, Gordon Setters, Falconry and more. Clan tents line Butternut Creek and can provide information regarding Scottish ancestry. Sample Scottish food and shop for Scottish merchandise in the Vendor area. There are many games and events for children. A Scottish Rock Concert takes place Sat. at 7:30 p.m. Tram service is provided from the parking areas to various points throughout the park.

The Scots and Scots-Irish were among the original settlers in the Appalachian mountains and struggled to survive. Their heritage lives on through song, stories and music. Our Scottish ancestors left a wealth of culture and strength that is passed on from generation to generation. Join us for a Scottish weekend in the Mountains!

Price is $10.00 per day or $15.00 for the weekend. Sat. evening concert: $5.00. Visit our website HYPERLINK "http://www.blairsvillescottishfestival. org" www.blairsvillescottishfestival.org or call the Blairsville-Union County Chamber of Commerce at 706-745-5789, toll free 877-745-5789.
