Bowling for Habitat for Humanity
The third annual Habitat for Humanity Bowling Tournament was held last week at Galaxy Lanes in Blairsville. The "fun event" was attended by many local bowlers as well as several from nearby communities. Louise McTaggert Realty sponsored three teams and Louise was on hand to encourage all of the bowlers.

The 'fun format' included a regular game followed by a 9- pin game which were combined for the high series prizes. The third game was a 'low ball / low score' format where a gutter ball or a 'no-hit' was counted as a strike or spare. Although fun, several scores were higher than the regular games.

First place for High Series and for the Low Ball event went to the team of Denise Baldwin, Rick Bracken, and John and Sherry Bellasssai. Second place High Series went to the 'senior' team of George Smith, Harold Haney, Julie Waltz and Jean Hiler.

Out of town participants included Pam and Charles Jackson of Franklin NC, Rita Ramey of Clayton, Willard and Woody McCoy of Cherokee, NC and a team from Sweetwater Methodist Church in Hayesville.

All of the participants received a door prize donated by local merchants as well as a Habitat for Humanity t-shirt sponsored by United Community Bank.
