Wade Holbrooks

Mr. Wade Holbrooks, 66, of Simpsonville, S.C., formerly of Blairsville, Ga., died Thursday, May 17, 2007 at the Greenville Medical Center.

Mr. Holbrooks was born Friday, April 4, 1941 in Blairsville to the late Pete Holbrooks and the late Nancy Lorene Holbrooks. He was of the Baptist faith and was a Teamster forklift operator at a warehouse in Mogador, Ohio, for 25 years. He retired in 1991 and moved to Simpsonville in 1994 where he became a parttime landscaper and gardener in the community. He developed additional health problems which greatly reduced his activities. Mr. Holbrooks had been fighting a battle with cancer this last year and was being treated for diabetes and Parkinson's disease for the past few years.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 33 years, Kathryn Holbrooks of Simpsonville, S.C.; sons, Jon Eric of Dunn, N.C., and Marc Christopher of Portsmouth, Va.; sister, Barbara Morris of Morganton, Ga.; and one grandchild, Christopher.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 3 p.m. from the Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Vernon Davenport officiating. Music was provided by The Faith Singers. Interment was in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jerry Martin, David Cox, Tony Dinatalle, Steve Kimsey and his sons, Eric and Mark.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to The National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 NW 9th Ave/Bob Hope Rd., Miami, FL33136-1494.
